## Summary
- Embrace [[The Gap]].
- Recognize the delta between your perception of proficiency and where you presently stand. [[Feel the fear and do it anyway!]]
- [[As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it.]]
- [[So much of the process of learning is failure and iteration]].
- [[The more you strive for improvement, the more motivated you become.]]
- [[Proficiency is the sculptor, knowledge is the marble, curiosity is the vision, and discovery is the masterpiece.]]
## Notes
### Knowing and not knowing
- No matter how good you get, you don't ever really think you know what you're doing.
- The more you know, the more you learn what you don't know. This is because as your world view expands, so does your ability to see things in greater detail - things that you did not previously know existed.
- There is no limit on the total combination of all matters in which we can discover.
- [[Knowing more means knowing more about what you still don't know]].
- [[As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it.]]
- [[Proficiency is the sculptor, knowledge is the marble, curiosity is the vision, and discovery is the masterpiece.]]
### Getting started
- The fear of getting started can come from the delta between your perception of proficiency and where you presently stand.
- Embrace [[The Gap]].
- In learning a new skill, commit to completing a project at least 3 times in a row.
- It does not matter how bad you are. If you perform your second attempt right after the first one, there's an extremely high likelihood that the second attempt would be profoundly better.
- The third attempt would result in points on a graph. You would then be able to understand your rates of improvement; to understand where you may be able to go.
- [[Improvement is a profound motivator]].
- [[The more you strive for improvement, the more motivated you become.]]
- [[So much of the process of learning is failure and iteration]].
