## Notes
### 1. Better to have than to need
- There's a difference between not having something that you thought you had vs. never having something to begin with. The first example is one that can disrupt creative flow.
- If you're in flow, then you have to stop because you don't have what you need, it stops the flow. It stops the intuition. It stops the creative process.
- It then takes a lot of energy to get back into flow.
- The creative flow is a precious thing. Not only is it good for raw output, but it is effective for creative problem solving.
- Sometimes, the constraint of not having something can inspire you to come up with alternative solutions.
- Whenever I order something, I order double.
- "Yes I may be a hoarder, but there's rule #2."
### 2. Curation is everything
- [[At least 50% of my design work is curating the things that I work with]]. And [[Know your aesthetic|knowing my own aesthetic]].
- Curating the stuff you stock and surround yourself with keeps you from hoarding. It also ensures that you [[Use your space and stuff wisely]].
- "I don't have a negative example because I don't keep stuff that I don't need."
- You can also keep stuff that inspires you - stuff that you know you'll one day make use of.
- [[Curate what you hoard - then it's not hoarding.]]
### 3. Build a scalable system
- You have to grow your system at some point.
- Decide and construct your system in a manner were the container (equivalents) of your system can expand in an organized manner.
- You invest in your shop organization.
### 4. Make systems intuitive
- Don't overthink how to categorize your stuff.
- [[Don't make it more intellectual. Make it more intuitive.]]
- [[Don't think, know]]. [[Don't think, feel]].
- [[My system is under thinking - so it's more intuitive.]]
- Create a categorization system. Become proficient in the categorization of things.
### 5. Color code
- Color coding is a categorization method that uses [[Visual control]].
### 6. Build bigger than you need
- Give yourself space to refine and to scale.
- Leave your containers half full. This provides space for more stuff in the future as you scale.
- [[Smallest parts are the hardest to keep track of]].
