## Notes
### Procrastination is...
- Procrastination is inaction. [[Inaction is a slow death]].
- Procrastination is less of a wall that suddenly appears. That's [[The Wall]]; writer's block. Rather, it's more like a dense fog that clouds you. Something that you can't see through or get through - so you wait it out. You try to outlast the fog.
- In the act of outlasting the fog of procrastination, you resort to inaction - especially on the thing you wish to action on.
### Uncertainty
- Procrastination can come from uncertainty.
- Uncertainty can come from too many choices or too many voices, leading to [[Analysis paralysis]]; the fear of taking the wrong action.
- [[You can't always make the right decision, but you can make the decision right]].
- [[It's more important to do the right thing than to do the things right]].
### Fear
- Procrastination can come from fear.
- Fear, rational or not, can cause you to freeze; to do nothing.
- You become afraid that you may do the wrong thing or do the thing wrong.
- [[Fear is lessons by perspective and control]].
- [[As your fear expands, so does the circumference of uncertainty surrounding it.]]
- If you're in the moment of experiencing the fear of certain undesirable outcomes, ask yourself... [[Will it matter in 10 minutes? 10 weeks? or 10 years?]]
### Inertia
> Inertia is controlled by action.
- Procrastination can come from inertia (working against you).
- It takes more energy to change direction than going straight.
- [[Your direction is defined by intention and inertia]].
- Make the change. Redefine your momentum.
- [[You can't control outcomes, just processes]].
- [[Always define the next action step]]. Do the next little thing to move forward towards the bigger thing.
### Beating procrastination
> [[Reasons are the fuel for excellence]].
- The way we beat procrastination is not by force - it's by removing the blockages.
- To practice [[Kaizen]] on your productivity. To remove the things that slow you down; enabling you to go fast.
- Review your tasks. Ask yourself, "What is the purpose behind this task? Why am I doing this?". [[Take the time to think about your life]]. [[Know your why]].
- Understand your tasks. You'll rediscover/reaffirm why you're doing something, or realize/discover a misalignment between your actions and your goals/values.
